The Figueres City Council launched a major cleaning operation this Tuesday at an unfinished building located at 10 Taure Street, aiming to resolve long-standing safety issues in the Marca de l'Ham neighborhood.

The structure, abandoned for over fifteen years, has been the site of numerous fires and violent incidents. Workers are currently draining the flooded basement and removing large amounts of waste and old furniture using heavy machinery.
The owners of the property, including the Bishopric of Girona, will be charged for the costs of this intervention. Once the cleaning is complete, the council plans to reinforce the perimeter fences to prevent unauthorized access to the site.
