The Figueres City Council has announced the opening of a new Local Police sub-station and a dedicated anti-squatting office, scheduled to be operational before summer 2025.

These new facilities aim to provide a faster and more specialized response to illegal housing occupations in Figueres. Mayor Jordi Masquef shared the news following a Security Board meeting held this Friday.
The meeting included Josep Lluís Trapero, Director General of the Police. Data revealed that crime in the city increased by only 0.1% over the past year, with the majority of cases involving minor offenses.

"The crimes that have grown the most have been the least serious ones."

Furthermore, Trapero reaffirmed the commitment to increase the number of officers in the city through the upcoming graduation of new police recruits.
