The emblematic establishment, which has been open in the Font Lluminosa area since December 1991, completed its unique "step aside" on January 26, 2026. This short-distance move allowed the owner, Carme Heras, to transform the former kiosk format, which occupied the space of an old churrería, into a bookstore with greater capacity.

Since the reopening, Carme Heras has received numerous visits from customers and passersby who celebrate the new layout, which allows for better viewing of the assortment. La Ploma is a cultural reference point in Figueres and for the Alt Empordà region, especially for visitors to the fruit and vegetable markets.
The store's offering includes newspapers, magazines, international press, literary novelties from regional and national publishers, and school supplies. Furthermore, it maintains a strong link with the literary world of the Empordà, often acting as a support store during book presentations. It is also a point of sale for Loteries de Catalunya products and for recharging Figueres public transport cards (managed by Fisersa).
