The Catalan Transit Service launched an intensive speed control campaign this March 2nd, focusing on the AP-7 motorway starting from the border town of La Jonquera.

Coordinated with the Mossos d'Esquadra police force, the operation will run until March 8th. Authorities are using ten radar trailers to ensure permanent surveillance along the 344 kilometers of the AP-7 connecting La Jonquera and Ulldecona.
Data from previous campaigns highlights the necessity of these measures, with over 24,000 fines issued in a single week last year. Speeding was a contributing factor in 12% of all traffic accidents involving victims in Catalonia during 2025.
The deployment aims to protect vulnerable road users and reduce the high rate of daily infractions, which averaged 3,500 sanctioned drivers per day during similar operations in the past.
