Several structural projects are currently on hold, including the renovation of the local Health clinic, the expansion of the daycare center, and the modernization of the town's school facilities. Improvements to the Port access and street renovations are also part of the planned investment package.
Cultural initiatives such as the Walter Benjamin Memorial Space and an increased presence of the Mossos d'Esquadra police force are also tied to the approval of the 50 billion euro regional budget, the most ambitious in the history of the Government.
“"We have within reach the implementation of 50 billion euros, each and every one of them designed to improve people's lives."
The situation in Portbou reflects a broader need across the Alt Empordà region, affecting over 150,000 residents who rely on public services and the completion of these long-awaited structural transformations.
