The La Jonquera town council and the current owners of Requesens Castle are celebrating the 125th anniversary of the 1899 restoration that turned this 11th-century fortress into a summer residence.

Located in the Albera mountains, the castle underwent a significant transformation led by architect Alexandre Comalat. The project, commissioned by the Count of Peralada, followed the 'unity of style' trend seen in French and German restorations of the era.
The site has hosted high-profile events, including the bachelor party of Prince Pierre Casiraghi of Monaco, and served as a filming location for movies such as Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. Salvador Dalí also showed interest in buying the property for Gala in the late 1960s.
Today, the castle remains privately owned and is open for guided tours, while the local government works to preserve its artistic heritage through the new Guillem Comalat art collection.
