The Department of Elderly Affairs of the Roses City Council has prepared a specific program to commemorate the International Day of Older Persons, aiming to foster social relationships and promote an active life among the town's seniors.
The day will begin at 9 AM with a boat excursion from the breakwaters of Roses to Cadaqués. Participants will enjoy an hour and a half stay in Cadaqués before returning, with arrival expected at 1 PM. The activity has a maximum capacity of 200 people and requires prior registration.
In the afternoon, at 6 PM, the Roses Municipal Theatre will host the institutional ceremony. Following the reading of the manifesto, there will be a musical performance by Abba The New Experience.
The Councilor for Elderly Affairs, Ester Navas, highlighted the importance of the celebration, maintaining a format that combines the morning outing with the commemorative and musical event. "This day is also a way to recognize the fundamental role that the elderly play in Roses and all that they continue to contribute to our municipality," she stated.
Registration for the boat trip will take place at the offices of the Social Services Department (Casa del Mar) from September 21st to 24th for residents registered in Roses, and on September 25th it will open to others if places remain. Registration hours will be from 9:30 AM to 2 PM.
The International Day of Older Persons, promoted by the United Nations General Assembly since 1990, aims to ensure the well-being of older persons and promote their participation in society, reflecting on the challenges of demographic aging.
