The incident occurred around 03:00 AM. According to the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan Police), the victim, a resident of Breda (Selva), suffered an electric shock while working in the area where ADIF (Adif) is carrying out maintenance work.
A colleague of the worker transported him to the Camallera station. There, emergency services attempted to revive him using an automated external defibrillator (AED), but unfortunately, they were unable to save his life.
Several units of the Mossos d’Esquadra, two from the Bombers de la Generalitat (Firefighters of Catalonia), and members of the Sistema d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) (Emergency Medical System) were dispatched to the scene.
The Mossos d’Esquadra have reported the incident to the on-duty investigating court of Figueres and the Departament d’Empresa i Treball (Department of Business and Labour), following the protocol for fatal workplace accidents.
