The body of María Flor García Castillo, the 78-year-old resident of Roses who suffered from dementia and went missing on January 4, was found Friday morning among bushes near the town entrance.

A person walking near the entrance of Roses (Alt Empordà) shortly before ten in the morning alerted the 112 emergency number after locating a woman's body in the bushes. Local Police and Mossos d’Esquadra patrols immediately arrived at the scene.
Although the autopsy is pending to confirm the identity, it is almost certainly María Flor García Castillo, who disappeared on January 4 after leaving her home for a walk and not returning. She lived alone and suffered from some form of dementia.

The search operation was launched the day after her disappearance, involving police and firefighters who searched a nearby stream without finding any clues.

The Mossos d’Esquadra had published her photo and description on January 10, noting that she might be disoriented. The body was found approximately three kilometers from her home.
Forensic experts from the Institute of Legal Medicine (IMLC) in Girona will perform the autopsy to confirm the identity and determine the cause and exact date of death.
