The village of Taravaus, home to about sixty inhabitants, suffers recurrent isolation whenever rainfall is intense, mainly due to the alluvial deposits caused by the Manol river and the Riera de Mas Rodella tributary. This situation recurred during the strong storm that hit Alt Empordà between last Monday and Tuesday.
“"There is no danger because the streams are very shallow, but if you cross with a low car there is a risk of damaging the vehicle."
Mayor Anna Palet explained that the problem arises on the straight section known as carrer del Torrent, where the two streams overflow during exceptional rain episodes, such as those experienced during Christmas and Sant Esteve. Although a previous action with the Agència Catalana de l'Aigua (ACA) mitigated the frequency, road closures still occur.
The proposed structural solution, valued at 203,000 euros, was approved in the last plenary session of 2025. This project has been submitted for a grant from the Generalitat, as the council considers it unfeasible to assume the cost of improving this road, which, despite being a municipal path, is heavily trafficked.
