The historian and member of Montònec magazine Marc Galimany Bonaterra presents his new book about Carlism in Font-rubí this Saturday, January 31, at the Guardiola Cooperative auditorium.

The work, titled La famosa Junta Carlista de Font-rubí and published by Cossetània Edicions, offers an exhaustive chronicle of Carlism in the Vilafranca district and the history of the municipality during the 19th century. The author, Marc Galimany Bonaterra, is a deep connoisseur of Font-rubí, where he has combined his professional career with active participation in local politics and cultural entities.
Galimany, who is also a member of the editorial staff of Montònec magazine, has published numerous articles on local heritage and historical memory, which is precisely where this book originates. His work stands out for its historical rigor, combining contrasted sources with a sensitive view towards the territory, and is complemented by illustrations made by the author himself.
The research focuses on how Font-rubí was the driving force behind frantic activity during the First Carlist War, acting as a management point, recruitment center, refuge, and headquarters for contribution collection. Given the scarce existing information about Carlism in Font-rubí, the digitalization of the 19th-century press was key to discovering dozens of references to the Junta Carlista de Font-rubí.

"It is a continuation point that aims to serve as a basis to continue pulling threads and complete, piece by piece, the puzzle of our local and national history."

The presentation, organized by the Empelt association, will take place at 6:30 p.m. and is planned as an open conference to answer public curiosity. This is the first of several planned presentations, including events on Friday, February 27 in Vilafranca, and later in Sant Quintí and La Llacuna, with the aim of disseminating the research at the regional level.
