The Government of Catalonia has decided to extend the free passes for Rodalies, mid-distance, and regional Renfe trains until April 30, a measure aimed at normalizing rail services after recent incidents.

This one-month extension applies to the 10-journey tickets initially made available on January 26. The decision follows the fatal accident in Gelida and the subsequent disruptions to the usual operation of the Catalan railway network.

"We committed to maintaining free travel until train services return to normal."

Sílvia Paneque · Minister of Territory
The Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, had previously stated the Catalan executive's commitment to maintaining this benefit until the train service situation returned to normal. In this regard, Paneque also reported that approximately 90% of the temporary speed restrictions (LTV) imposed due to the Rodalies crisis will be lifted during April, while some might extend into early May.
