The Government of Catalonia is launching a new mobile Citizen Service Office (OAC) service starting tomorrow Monday, aiming to reach 200 towns where direct access to Generalitat procedures is currently unavailable.

Five equipped vehicles will travel through all regions, ensuring a visit to each locality at least once every five weeks. During these stops, lasting between 1.5 and 3 hours, a digital agent will provide assistance for online procedures, such as certificate renewals, aid applications, or various inquiries.

"We want to bring the administration to the square of every town in the country to make life easier for citizens everywhere."

the Minister of the Presidency
This service, with a budget of 2.43 million euros for the current and next year, is estimated to serve up to 600,000 people. The initiative follows a successful pilot program conducted in the Terres de l'Ebre, where it received an average rating of 4.89 out of 5 from users.
The project's presentation to mayors took place on Friday in Mediona (Alt Penedès). During the event, it was highlighted that the mobile OACs will also help reduce the digital divide, providing citizens with the necessary knowledge to perform procedures autonomously in the future. A key service will be the registration for the idCat mobile identification system for those who do not yet have it.
The nearly 200 municipalities selected for this service are characterized by their distance from Generalitat offices, low population density, geographical dispersion, or public transport limitations. Selection criteria include a predominantly over-50 population, a distance greater than 13 kilometers from the Comarcal Council, or more than 30 kilometers from the nearest OAC.
Among the localities that will receive visits are municipalities of various sizes, such as Calella (Maresme), Sant Pere de Ribes (Garraf), Palamós (Baix Empordà), Vandellòs i Hospitalet de l'Infant (Baix Camp), Cervera (Segarra), or Sant Celoni (Vallès Oriental), as well as smaller ones like Mont-ral (Alt Camp), Vansa i Fórnols (Alt Urgell), Aguilar de Segarra (Bages), Oristà (Lluçanès), Almatret (Segrià), or Bot (Terra Alta).
Each vehicle features a climate-controlled interior space for in-person assistance and a counter with a laptop for autonomous procedures. The vans are equipped with a connection aggregation system to ensure stable connectivity, even in areas with coverage issues, and are accessible to people with reduced mobility.
