The Secretary of Mobility, Manel Nadal, announced in Vilafranca del Penedès that the R4 line disruption caused by the Gelida accident will end on March 16.

The restoration of regular service between Sant Sadurní d'Anoia and Martorell will eliminate the need for bus bridges used since January. Officials expect further improvements in 2026 upon the completion of the Mediterranean Corridor works.
Mayor Francisco Romero has requested that the e6 Express Bus reinforcement to Barcelona remains active until the train service is fully reliable. However, Minister Sílvia Paneque suggested that these extra buses will be withdrawn as rail traffic normalizes.
Looking ahead to 2027, the Government plans to extend connections to Tarragona and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). An informative study for a regional and high-speed train station in Vilafranca is also expected to be commissioned soon.
