The Sant Raimon Festivities, co-patron of Vilafranca del Penedès, will be held across two sets of dates in January 2026: from the 16th to the 18th and from the 23rd to the 25th. The main novelty of this edition is the installation of a tent with capacity for 800 people on the Rambla de Sant Francesc, a solution addressing the lack of a suitable venue for mass events in winter.
“"The tent consumes practically half of the budget, which has forced the organization to reduce the number of scheduled activities."
The tent will be the epicenter of the second weekend of festivities. On Friday, January 23, it will host the ticket dinner and the gralles dance, while on Saturday, the 24th, the first edition of a wine fair featuring eight wineries from Penedès and one from Priorat will take place. That same Saturday, the tent will host the main dance of the festivities with the group Nocheochentera.
The alternative of the Teatre Casal, common in recent years, has been ruled out due to safety risks for events with 800 people standing, such as the traditional Ball de Raimons. The Culture Councillor, Àngels Dalmau, indicated that the city council “is studying” how to resolve this long-standing situation regarding suitable winter venues.
The festivities, which officially kick off on Friday, January 16, with fireworks at Plaça de Jaume I, also include a campaign to reclaim Sant Raimon as the original patron of Vilafranca. The total budget for this edition is 26,250,000 euros, which has resulted in the program being reduced to 19 events.
