This Saturday, Sant Pere de Riudebitlles will install a Stolperstein stone in memory of Josep Parellada i Bages, a resident deported and murdered in Mauthausen-Gusen in 1941.

The event, taking place on Saturday, October 24 at 11:30 AM, will feature participation from Jordi Font, director of the Memorial Democràtic. The ceremony will include a performance of "Els Segadors" by students Aleix and Joel Rodríguez from EMAP.
This initiative is part of a broader project by the Memorial Democràtic, which will install commemorative stones in five Catalan municipalities during October: Alcanar, Cervià de Ter, Sant Pere de Riudebitlles, Sant Martí de Tous, and La Jonquera.
The Stolpersteine, created by German artist Gunter Demnig, are small brass cobblestones installed in front of the last known residence of victims deported to Nazi camps. They bear the victim's name to keep their memory alive. The name literally means 'stumbling stone,' evoking a symbolic stumble with memory and heart.
Since its inception in 1996, the project has distributed over 117,500 stones across 31 European countries, making it one of the most significant decentralized historical memory initiatives globally.
