The proposal, agreed at the Ribera d'Urgellet Town Hall, aligns with a motion from La Seu d'Urgell. Municipal leaders argue that Alt Urgell has hosted Interior territorial services since 2008 and its border with Andorra results in higher traffic volumes than other areas.
“"It would be most reasonable for the Pyrenean emergency region to be based in Alt Urgell, following the same logic as Health and Education."
Additionally, the council supported Cerdanya's request to join the Pyrenees region instead of Central Catalonia. The meeting also reviewed the 2026 budget for the County Council, totaling 11.1 million euros.
