Hundreds of teachers and education professionals protested this Wednesday in la Seu d'Urgell and blocked the N-260 highway to demand better working conditions and more resources.

The day of protest began early in the morning with a march between the capital of Alt Urgell and Castellciutat. This action caused intermittent closures on the N-260 road to highlight the group's dissatisfaction with declining purchasing power and administrative overload.

"The Department of Education has a metropolitan perspective that does not take into account the specific problems of rural education."

The organizing unions, including USTEC-STEs, ASPEPC-SPS, CGT, and Intersindical, focused on Rural School Zones (ZER). Protesters claim these centers suffer from a chronic lack of specialized staff and difficulties in finding substitutes.
Beyond territorial demands, workers criticized the minimum services imposed by the Generalitat de Catalunya, describing them as abusive and a violation of the fundamental right to strike.
