Arsèguel to Host 'Bateig de Llibres' as Sant Jordi Prelude

The second edition of the Pyrenean literary gathering will bring together writers, publishers, and readers on April 18 in Alt Urgell.

The town of Arsèguel, in Alt Urgell, will host the 'Bateig de Llibres' (Book Baptism) on April 18, an initiative that anticipates the celebration of Sant Jordi with a focus on Pyrenean literary creation.

This second edition of the Pyrenean book festival, organized by the Associació Llibre del Pirineu, the Arsèguel Town Council, and the La Puça bookstore, is supported by the Consell Comarcal de l'Alt Urgell and the Institut d'Estudis Ilerdencs. The event aims to be a meeting point for writers, publishers, librarians, booksellers, and readers, highlighting the region's literature.
The day will begin at 11 AM with the round table The Past in the Present: Local Research Books in the Pyrenees, featuring Enric Quílez, Amadeu Gallart, Antoni Pol, and Climent Miró. After a coffee break, the events will resume with a performance by accordionist Cati Plana, followed by the presentation of fifteen new Pyrenean literary works for Sant Jordi, by their authors, including Joan Aixàs, Pilar Betriu, Antoni Caus, Pepita Clop, Manel Figuera, Albert Ginestà, Roser Guix, Fabiola Sofia Masegoda, Montse Milan, Carola de Otto, Joan Peitx, and Anna Sierra.
The program includes a popular lunch, open to all with prior registration, and will conclude with a literary itinerary through the streets of Arsèguel. This route will be based on Albert Villaró's book Cadí, una biografia, narrated by actor and theater director Pere Tomàs. Throughout the day, there will be a book sales point and an information stand for the Associació Llibre del Pirineu, where the entity's new catalog will be distributed free of charge.
