The arrest took place this Thursday following an investigation initiated after the complaint filed by the 89-year-old woman. The couple, residing in an unspecified town in Alt Urgell, had hired the now-arrested woman as an assistant last summer, as both are fully dependent.
The caregiver was authorized to manage the couple's banking procedures, but the woman recently discovered that ten cash withdrawals totaling 4,800 euros and a transfer of 50,200 euros had been made without her consent. Furthermore, she confirmed that the entry in the bank book for this transfer had been manipulated to simulate a value of only 200 euros.

The Mossos investigation revealed that the largest transfer went directly to the caregiver's account. It was also confirmed that 107 unauthorized cash withdrawals, totaling 59,180 euros, had been made from the husband's account. The total amount of the appropriation amounts to 115,000 euros.
In addition to the money, the victim reported missing jewelry, coins, and other valuables. Investigators confirmed that the detainee allegedly sold these items in various second-hand shops in the region. She is charged with fraud, disloyal administration, theft, and usurpation of civil status for presenting an employment contract with a manipulated signature. The detainee was brought before the duty court in La Seu d'Urgell this Friday.
