Snowfall has mandated the use of chains or special equipment on five roads in Alt Urgell, Pallars Sobirà, and Val d'Aran, triggering the NEUCAT plan alert this Tuesday.

The use of chains is mandatory for driving through the Port del Cantó (N-260) and the Port de la Bonaigua (C-28). Furthermore, restrictions remain in place at Cantó for heavy vehicles. Special equipment is also required to access Pla de Beret (C-142b), the slopes of Tuixent (C-462), and Josa i Tuixent (C-563).
The situation caused an incident at Port del Cantó, where a bus carrying young people from Murcia, who were on an excursion between Espot and La Seu d'Urgell, had to turn back for safety reasons. In Rubió, considered the highest village in Catalonia at 1,687 meters, several drivers stopped to install the necessary equipment before crossing the pass.

Civil Protection reminds that there is a high risk of avalanches, which is why people are asked not to carry out activities outside of ski slopes and controlled areas.

Civil Protection maintains the Special Emergency Plan for Snowfall in Catalonia (NEUCAT) on alert due to the forecast for precipitation this Tuesday and Wednesday. The risk is mainly focused on the Eastern Pyrenees, especially in Ripollès, where the snow level is expected to be between 1,200 and 1,400 meters.
