The La Seu d'Urgell City Council has awarded the renovation of the Molí Vell building, located in the historic center, to convert it into a versatile space that will temporarily house the Work Transition Plan.

The awarding of the works, carried out this Monday, will allow the rehabilitation of the property located in Baixada del Molí, next to the Segre Olympic Park. Once the intervention is completed, the municipally owned space will be used for training, exhibitions, meetings, and talks.
Temporarily, the building will host classes for the Work Transition Plan (PTT), a professional training program aimed at young people between 16 and 21 years old. This educational service will subsequently move to the Les Monges building once the remodeling of the right wing of that cultural facility is finished.

"The Molí Vell building has been unused for decades even though it has many possibilities, as it has many square meters."

Joan Barrera · Mayor of Urgell
The renovation, which will include the removal of asbestos from the roof, has a budget of 165,044 euros, financed through a loan and treasury surplus. The company Engibar S.L. will execute the work within eight months, with the start expected early next year.
The Molí Vell, built in the 16th century, is listed as a Local Cultural Asset (BCIL) and is part of the Cultural Heritage Inventory of Catalonia. It is currently only used for storage due to its poor condition, and after the intervention, it will be reduced to two floors.
