The works, which had to be contracted directly due to their urgency, are necessary because of leaks that have worsened with recent rains, causing water to fall directly onto the display cases housing the valuable sculptural pieces.
“"It will be necessary to remove all the tiles, deploy a waterproof sheet to prevent leaks, and put them back in place."
The action will involve a total investment of approximately 50,000 euros. Of this amount, 70% will be financed by the Department of Culture, while the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs (IEI) will contribute 6,000 euros. The remaining cost will be covered by the council and the Bishopric of Lleida.
The sacred art collection exhibited inside the church includes prominent elements such as the original altarpieces from the Assumpció and Sant Sebastià temples, various polychrome wood carvings from the Baroque era, and a pictorial collection from the 17th and 18th centuries.
