A hot air balloon carrying two occupants became stuck in a tree at the Parc Fluvial in Vilanova del Camí on Sunday, January 11 morning, after being caught by a strong gust of wind during the final landing maneuver.

The scare happened shortly after 10 AM, when the balloon's basket was already close to the ground. An unexpected wind gust pushed the sail, causing it to become entangled in the branches of a tree.
The two occupants, who are professionals dedicated to balloon manufacturing, were unharmed, as the incident occurred at a very low altitude, according to emergency services.

The intervention of the Fire Department was crucial to ensure that the delicate balloon sail could be detached without sustaining material damage.

Two crews from the Bombers de la Generalitat (Catalan Fire Department) were dispatched to the scene to carry out the extraction work. The priority was handling the material with extreme care due to its delicate nature, preventing damage to the sail.
