The Igualada Town Council has joined a Government of Catalonia pilot program to revitalize traditional commerce. With a budget of up to 80,000 euros, the city will implement new urban planning tools to support local shops and prevent the closure of traditional businesses.
Education is another pillar of this growth, as the University of Lleida (UdL) will bring its Medicine faculty to the Health Campus starting in the 2026/2027 academic year. The new 4,000-square-meter facility on Passeig Verdaguer already hosts 500 students in nursing and physiotherapy.
Additionally, the Parc Central will see the opening of L'Hivernacle, a cultural and gastronomic hub. Funded by the Barcelona Provincial Council, this project will be managed by the Àuria Foundation to promote social inclusion for people with disabilities.
