The winning project, titled "Characterization of the use of complementary medicine and potential pharmacological interactions with oral antineoplastic treatments in breast cancer patients: a prospective observational study in real clinical practice at the Hospital Universitari d'Igualada," explores possible interactions between these practices and oral oncological medication.
The first prize is endowed with 1,600 euros. The work aims to identify potential pharmacological interactions in patients treated at the Hospital Universitari d'Igualada.
The first honorable mention, with 800 euros, went to Foix Martin, a resident in Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery at CSA, for his work comparing functional outcomes and complications between early and conventional rehabilitation protocols after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair.
The second honorable mention, also with 800 euros, was awarded to Paula Cassadó, a resident in Gynecology and Obstetrics, for a prospective study evaluating the increase in postpartum urogenital hiatus and its relationship with levator ani muscle injury, assessed by transperineal ultrasound.
These awards were presented on October 2nd, during "La Nit de la Professió 2026" (The Night of the Profession 2026), an event organized by the Anoia branch of the Academy of Medical and Health Sciences of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.
The Anoia Residents' Research Award, promoted by the Consorci Sanitari de l'Anoia (CSA), marks its fifth edition and aims to foster research among specialized healthcare professionals in the region, including medicine, nursing, and pharmacy.
During the same ceremony, other research awards were presented, such as the 2026 Night of the Profession Scholarship to Helena Jorba and the Research Award to Josep M. Soto Ejarque, both affiliated with the CSA.
