The incident occurred on the night of Sunday, September 27, when the thieves stole two articulated trailers full of new motorcycles and mopeds from a parking lot in Masquefa. Although the detainees disabled one of the tracking systems and abandoned the original license plates, the GPS tracking of some of the stolen motorcycles allowed the convoy to be traced to France.
Thanks to rapid international communication, the French National Police located the two vehicles traveling with allegedly falsified Romanian license plates in Cagnes-sur-Mer. Inside the trailers, 95 mopeds and motorcycles of various French and Italian brands were found.
The joint operation, organized through the Police and Customs Cooperation Centre (CCPD) of El Pertús, resulted in the immobilization of the vehicles, the recovery of all stolen motorcycles, and the arrest of the two drivers.
The investigation, which remains open, has been taken over by the Local Judicial Police Service of the Cagnes-sur-Mer station in coordination with Catalan authorities. The detainees have been handed over to the French judicial authorities.
