The majority of the new cameras, twelve in total, will be installed at existing citizen security points to increase their efficiency. The remaining two will be deployed in newly created areas, specifically in the neighborhoods of La Grúa and Sant Jordi, with the intention of improving and reinforcing protection in these zones.
With this expansion, the video protection system, active since late May 2026, will provide greater coverage, particularly at the municipality's entrances and main thoroughfares. This will aid in investigations by local and other police forces, enabling the tracking of vehicles involved in criminal offenses and facilitating more accurate information retrieval.
Citizen security has also been bolstered by an increase in the Local Police force. The police department is adapting to new needs and technological challenges through continuous updates in knowledge and resources. A mobile video security unit has been acquired as part of the Specific Video Protection Program within the Local Governments Network Plan 2024-2027.
This new tool will allow for real-time monitoring of incidents, especially during municipal events with large crowds or at other points of police interest. In the coming weeks, a selection process will begin to create new positions within the Local Police, aiming to increase crime prevention and enhance the perception of safety.
Through these initiatives, the Piera City Council reaffirms its commitment to expanding and strengthening citizen security and protection in both the urban center and its neighborhoods, as well as detecting uncivil behavior related to waste and traffic.
