The Territorial Services of Education and Professional Training of Alt Pirineu and Aran, together with the Comarcal Council of Alta Ribagorça, have organized a training session focused on the competencies of the Comarcal Councils regarding school meals and transport. The meeting took place this Wednesday at the headquarters of the Comarcal Council of Alta Ribagorça, in Pont de Suert, and was attended by representatives from the five comarcal councils of the vegueria and the Conselh Generau d’Aran.
The main objective of the session was to clarify doubts about the competencies delegated to local entities in these areas. The deputy director general of Support for Families and the Educational Community, Jordi Puit, detailed the technical and administrative criteria for drafting tender documents, costing services, and control and monitoring measures. The adaptation to new regulations was also discussed, including food quality requirements, the use of local produce, and control systems. Furthermore, the impact of VAT changes on school transport and the management of cases involving families in vulnerable situations were addressed.
Also present at the session were Albert Palacín, president of the Comarcal Council of Alta Ribagorça, and Carlota Valls, director of the territorial service of Education and Professional Training in Alt Pirineu and Aran. The territorial service emphasized the importance of these services, managed by delegation by the Comarcal Councils (and transferred to the Val d’Aran), as guarantees for rural schooling and promoters of school canteens using local products.
