The Catalan Government approved an extraordinary credit supplement of 5,988 million euros this Thursday to ensure the stability of public finances and the payment of civil servant salaries.

This legal maneuver allows the administration to increase the current extended budget to its maximum limit. The funds are designated for essential services, including healthcare, education, and the deployment of the Mossos d'Esquadra police force, as well as regional commitments in areas like Val d'Aran.

"Civil servants' salaries were at risk, but with this supplement, we don't have to worry."

Alícia Romero · Minister of Economy
The decision comes after the government withdrew its formal budget proposal to avoid a parliamentary defeat. While this credit provides immediate relief, officials noted that an additional 3 billion euros remain inaccessible until a full budget is officially passed.
