Catalonia stands out for its rich landscapes and heritage, offering everything from the Pyrenees mountains to the coast. Hiking has become a popular activity, with over 11,000 km of marked trails and refuges according to the FEEC.
One of the most attractive proposals is the Camin Reiau, which traverses the Aran Valley, connecting its 33 villages. This experience allows visitors to enjoy art, gastronomy, and nature, with a customizable duration from a weekend to ten days.
The route is divided into three stages, designed for the whole family, with daily segments of 15 km and 4 hours of walking. It starts in Vielha, the capital, and unfolds through Naut Aran (first stage), Mijaran (second stage), and Baish Aran (third stage), finally returning to Vielha.
The first stage, Naut Aran, includes villages like Gessa, Arties, and Bagergue, where 12th-century Romanesque art can be admired. The highest point is reached at Plan de Beret (1,800 m), and it includes an overnight stay in Montgarri, a village abandoned in the 1960s.
The second stage, Mijaran, passes through villages such as Vilac and Gausac, being the most populated area. The third stage, Baish Aran, covers locations like Bossòst and Les, and is the least visited area with longer hikes.
Prices vary by duration: the complete route (9 nights) costs 850 euros. Naut Aran (6 nights, 5 days) is 595 euros; Mijaran (weekend) is 240 euros; and Baish Aran (5 nights) is 465 euros.
