The ordinary Plenary of the Artés Town Council, held last Thursday, May 21st, unanimously approved a motion supporting the recognition of labor rights for volunteer firefighters. The motion urges the Department of the Interior of the Generalitat de Catalunya to guarantee them social and health coverage, risk prevention protocols, review the remuneration model, and open a negotiation table.
Improvement works on sports facilities have also been approved. The north facade windows of the municipal pavilion will be replaced to enhance thermal and acoustic insulation, with execution planned for this summer. Additionally, the beach volleyball court will be adapted and improved, with an extension, renewed sand surface, lighting installation, and a new perimeter enclosure.
In urban planning, three buildings at Roca street, numbers 16, 18, and 20, will be demolished, including the removal of asbestos from one roof. This space will initially remain a plot as it is a non-developable area.
A new line of aid will promote sports practice among vulnerable children and adolescents, thanks to financial resources from the Barcelona Provincial Council. The regulations for the school transport scholarship for post-compulsory studies have also been modified, expanding income brackets and including university studies.
The Plenary approved the extension of the collaboration agreement for the management of the municipal library until 2030, a new ordinance for personal data processing, and modifications to the weekly market regulations. It was reported that the objectives of budgetary stability and financial sustainability are being met.
The 2026 fiscal ordinances include a 5% increase in fees for the Municipal Music School and the Nursery School, with new disability discounts for the former. Fees for administrative document issuance and the municipal crane service have also been updated.
The Artés Town Council is joining the V Gender Equality Plan of the Bages region 2026-2029. Furthermore, a motion was approved for the International Day Against LGTBI-phobia, reaffirming the municipality's commitment to defending LGTBI+ rights.
During the questions and requests section, information was provided on the works at the intersection of Barquera and Rocafort streets, the pilot test for street cleaning on Barcelona street, new lighting at the entrance roundabout, and the potential addition of a paddle tennis court.
The mayor concluded the session by responding to social media posts linking the Plenary to fascist policies, defending respect for diverse opinions and deeming the comparison disproportionate.
