Teachers and social organizations in Manresa reported this Wednesday that five minors, aged 2 to 11, have been relocated to hostels in Berga and Súria following their eviction from a local apartment block.

The eviction took place last Monday in a building on Botí Street owned by the investment fund Divarian. Representatives from Sant Ignasi school and Càritas warned that moving families outside the city prevents children from attending classes, effectively violating their right to education.

"Defending the right to housing is, today more than ever, defending that our students have a dignified childhood."

School directors in Manresa have noted a significant increase in families at risk of losing their homes. They argue that the lack of local emergency housing forces families into temporary solutions in other towns, leading to widespread school absenteeism despite the provision of free public transport vouchers.
