This Monday, Manresa experienced a day of contrasting outcomes regarding housing rights, with the effective eviction of five families on d'en Botí street and the temporary suspension of another on Joc de la Pilota street.

Early in the morning, a large deployment of Mossos d'Esquadra blocked access to en Botí and Pedregar streets. The operation resulted in the removal of five families from a building owned by the Divarian investment fund. The property is currently slated for demolition under a local urban plan. Five minors were among those displaced.
In contrast, social mobilization achieved a different result at Block 9. Nearly a hundred protesters organized by PAHC Bages gathered at the Sareb-owned building, which has been occupied since May 2023. The demonstration forced judicial officials to postpone the eviction of one family until March 18.

"The owner refuses to negotiate and has only proposed relocating families outside of Manresa and the region."

The Docents per l'Habitatge collective warned that 10 children in the Bages region face imminent eviction this week. They criticized the Department of Education for its silence, stating that housing stability is crucial for the educational well-being of students in local schools.
