The town of Gaià (Bages) will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the traditional Aplec de Santa Àgata on February 1st with a pilgrimage to the chapel and a solemn mass.

This event, now consolidated in Gaià's festive calendar, will take place on the first Sunday of February, which this year falls on the 1st. Participants will walk up the hill where the Santa Àgata chapel is located, next to the ruins of the Castell de Gaià.
The ascent will culminate at 11:30 AM with the celebration of the religious service. This solemn mass will feature musical accompaniment by the Coral de Sant Esteve, bringing together the residents of the Bages village in a spirit of community and tradition.
The origin of this liturgical activity dates back to 1983, when the restoration of the Santa Àgata hermitage was initiated, after the owners granted permission for the renovation.
The rehabilitation work was carried out by local resident Josep Matamala, with the active collaboration of various scout groups and the municipality's neighbors. The chapel and the new image of the saint were finally blessed in 1986, marking the beginning of the tradition that continues four decades later.
