The town of Avinyó celebrated its Carnival this Saturday with a large parade featuring twenty groups, highlighted by pop culture references and social critique.

The event started at 5:30 PM with a speech by the Carnival Queen. Local musical groups like Buidant la Bota and brass bands such as Màgic provided the soundtrack for the colorful procession through the town center.
The group Els passats de rosca won the best float award for their depiction of King Julien from the series The Penguins of Madagascar. Meanwhile, the best costume award went to a group dressed as Russian roulette wheels of fortune.
Satire played a major role, with floats featuring parodies of Donald Trump and Nicolás Maduro. Local issues were also addressed by the Avinyó Thieves Association, which used humor to highlight concerns about security and power outages in the Bages region.
