The BV-3008 road, connecting Fonollosa with Sant Joan de Vilatorrada and Manresa, was completely closed this Monday morning following a massive rockfall.

The incident occurred after weeks of heavy rainfall that weakened the hillsides in the area. Large boulders fell onto the asphalt, making the road impassable for private vehicles and school buses. The Fonollosa Town Council has formally requested the Diputació de Barcelona to keep the road closed until a full technical safety review is completed.

"It is unacceptable that people have to risk their lives just to get home or to work."

Eloi Hernàndez · Mayor of Fonollosa
Mayor Eloi Hernàndez had already warned about the dangerous conditions last Friday. Although the Diputació had planned to start stabilization works on February 23, the landslide occurred before the scheduled intervention. Provincial authorities have confirmed they will now clear the debris and conduct technical studies to ensure long-term stability before reopening the route.
