The city of Manresa began its Festa de la Llum celebrations this Friday, honoring the 14th-century miracle of the Séquia canal with a series of symbolic public events.

The evening started with a group of 100 runners from the Club Atlètic Manresa carrying water from Agulla Park to the city center. This athletic tradition, established last year, highlights the vital importance of the canal that saved the city from drought centuries ago.
In Sant Domènec Square, the local branch of Òmnium Cultural organized the 14th annual Encesa de la Nova Llum. Artist Anna Crespo created a candle-lit installation inspired by Ramon Llull and late activist Muriel Casals, though strong winds forced organizers and Mayor Marc Aloy to repeatedly relight the display.
The festivities concluded at Europa Square with a theatrical performance of the Pact of Concòrdia. The event depicted the historical struggle to build the Séquia and ended with a fireworks display after the symbolic arrival of light from the Montserrat monastery.
