The average waiting time for surgery stands at 142 days, with 209,986 patients currently on the list. Despite the high volume, the Catalan Health Service reports that urgent oncological procedures are still being performed within the guaranteed 45-day window.
Traumatology remains the most strained specialty, with over 93,000 patients waiting an average of 188 days. Some regional hospitals, including those in Sabadell and Granollers, report specific delays exceeding 300 days for orthopedic and urological procedures.
Diagnostic tests show a slight improvement, with 195,181 people waiting an average of 82 days. MRI scans and CT scans account for the largest portion of the backlog, reflecting the ongoing pressure on the public healthcare system.
