The Platform of People Affected by Mortgages and Capitalism Bages started an encampment in Sant Domènec square in Manresa to prevent the eviction of Block 8, scheduled for next Monday.

The thirty tents set up in the central Sant Domènec square in Manresa culminate a day of high mobilization that included protests at the Parliament of Catalonia and the offices of the financial entity Cerberus in Barcelona. The goal of the PAHC Bages is to prevent the eviction of Block 8, located in the Plaça Catalunya neighborhood, scheduled for next Monday.

The organization has mobilized dozens of people and fears that the eviction on Monday will be definitive, as previous attempts had been successfully halted. The PAHC Bages has reiterated its demand to the Manresa City Council to buy the building or expropriate its use, thus ensuring housing for the resident families, including Yuli Arévalo, and increasing the public housing stock.
The Councilor for Citizen Security and acting mayor, Anjo Valentí, monitored the encampment and assured that the City Council is seeking a "dignified, just, and legal" solution. To address the issue, a meeting between the PAHC and the council is scheduled for this Thursday.
This action is part of a longer struggle. In the middle of last month, the PAHC Bages already stopped another eviction in the Tudela passage. Simultaneously, members of the Confederation of Housing Unions of Catalonia (COSHAC) broke into the offices of real estate companies Solvia and Intrumn (Cerberus) to demand the halt of evictions, denouncing a hardening in the actions of the courts and police forces.
