The Manresa City Council and the Bombers de la Generalitat confirmed on Monday that the building at number 27 on Santa Llúcia Street, severely damaged by a fire, must be demolished.
The residential block, which burned for nine hours, has been declared “unrecoverable” following the inspection carried out by municipal technicians and the Firefighters. The Mayor of Manresa, Marc Aloy, explained that the demolition will proceed due to “supervening ruin,” as the structure partially collapsed.
“
"Number 27 was burning for 9 hours yesterday, with immense work by the firefighters throughout the day. It is an unrecoverable building and, therefore, its demolition will probably proceed."
The inspection also focused on the adjacent buildings, numbers 25 and 29, to ensure their safety. Number 25 is in a serious situation, with the party wall affected and deep structural damage, making its recovery difficult. The Councillor for Housing, Jesús Alonso, noted that they must wait to assess the effect of the water used in the extinguishing efforts before making a final decision on number 25.

"It is almost certain that we will end up with the option of supervening ruin. That is to say, it has been left in ruin after the fire and the subsequent consequences."
Meanwhile, the 36 affected residents who were evacuated remain housed at the Alberg del Carme, where they are being assisted by municipal social services. The administration is committed to finding the most suitable solution to resolve the housing emergency for the residents of number 27, who will hardly be able to return to their homes.
