The presidential hopeful for FC Barcelona, Víctor Font, confirmed on Rac1 that, should he win the elections on March 15, he would keep Hansi Flick as coach but dismiss Deco, whom he considers a trusted appointee of Joan Laporta and Alejandro Echevarría. Font promised a new structure that “will fit better with Flick's work.”
“"I am very happy with this situation because I believe we have trust. We look for the same players, we maintain the same philosophy, and he lets us work, which is the most important thing. I had never had this before, and I value it highly."
The German's appearance also served to address the importance of a good internal atmosphere, following Ronald Araujo's statement and the paternal attitude the coach maintains with the squad. Flick stressed that generating a climate of trust is fundamental for the optimal performance of the group.
In a more relaxed tone, Flick joked about his paternal role with the players, even saying he sometimes felt like “the grandfather.” He emphasized that his principle is for the players to be “relaxed and motivated” to give their maximum. He concluded that mutual respect is the basis of the relationship: “no one is above anyone else, everyone is on the same level.”
