Montiel's rise has been marked by psychological strength, which helped him overcome difficulties and injuries. One of the key moments of 2025 was his victory at the European Championship in Pamplona, where he competed injured, and his debut in the prestigious T100 series, considered the Formula 1 of triathlon. In this race, held in Spain, he achieved a surprising sixth place, even leading the race briefly during the cycling segment.
Looking ahead to 2026, the Bages triathlete has an ambitious calendar. He aims to compete in the entire T100 circuit, fight for the general ranking, and achieve podium finishes. Furthermore, he has a guaranteed spot for the European Championship to be held in Banyoles and plans to participate in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship, a private franchise offering significant financial prizes.
Regarding sponsorship, Montiel explains that his situation is "special" as he does not compete for a club or country but relies directly on his sponsors. Currently, only two brands from the Bages region, the bicycle shop The Cyclery and Ral d’Avinyó, have supported him, while he has found stronger financial backing from brands in Denmark and England.
