Engineers Estel Blay Carreras and Anna Bach Valls will receive the sixth Rosa Argelaguet i Isanta Award in Manresa on Thursday, February 5, recognizing their work in scientific dissemination and leadership in STEAM projects.

The VI edition of the Rosa Argelaguet i Isanta Award, promoted by the Manresa City Council, UPC Manresa, and UManresa-FUB, has recognized the careers of Blay, an aerospace engineer from Manresa, and Bach, a computer engineer and mathematician from Moià. Both were members of the Martian analog mission Hypatia II.
Estel Blay Carreras, born in Manresa in 1986, holds a doctorate in Aerospace Science and served as scientist and health and safety officer during the Hypatia II expedition in the Utah desert (United States) in February 2025. She is a strong advocate for gender equality in science and has been designated as commander for the next expedition, Hypatia III, scheduled for 2027.
Anna Bach Valls, born in Moià in 1994, stands out for her work as a scientific communicator via Instagram and her role as product manager at the video game company Scopely. During the Hypatia II mission, where she was executive officer and resident artist, she wrote and illustrated the children's book Les exploradores de Mart (The Explorers of Mars), published in September 2025.
The award was established in 2020 to maintain the legacy of Dr. Rosa Argelaguet i Isanta, former director of UPC Manresa, and aims to raise awareness about the role of women in teaching, research, and scientific dissemination. The presentation ceremony will take place at the Manresa University Campus Library.
