The pair, consisting of Folgueroles driver Nani Roma and Òdena co-driver Àlex Haro, received double good news upon the resumption of the Dakar this Sunday. The organization annulled the speeding penalty that had cost them the Thursday stage victory in favor of their teammate Mitch Guthrie, thus confirming a partial victory for the team.
The rectification was due to an error in a measuring tablet that recorded excessive speed. This victory is added to the fact that, despite a particularly complicated day with mechanical problems, they managed to retain third place in the general classification, with only six seconds advantage over the Toyota driven by Henk Lategan.
“"It was one of those days that you have to save, that you have to get through in the Dakar. We had a small problem at kilometer seventy and I couldn't put it in reverse or neutral."
The day was also positive for Australian Toby Price and Igualada's Armand Monleón, who finished fourth and climbed from fifteenth to twelfth place overall. In contrast, Monistrol de Calders driver Nandu Jubany suffered another setback with his Optimus, losing significant time due to a suspension problem, compounded by the breakdown of the assistance truck.
In the motorcycle category, the KTM team led by Igualada's Jordi Viladoms had an excellent day, with the stage victory going to Argentine Luciano Benavides. Australian Daniel Sanders leads the overall race, 4.25 ahead of Ricky Brabec's Honda.
