The PAHC in Manresa gathered dozens of people in Plaça Catalunya on Sunday evening to protest against the imminent eviction of Block 8, owned by the Cerberus fund, scheduled for Monday morning.

Dozens of people responded to the call by the PAHC and gathered on Sunday evening in Plaça Catalunya to protest against the eviction of Block 8, located in the Tudela passage, scheduled for Monday morning. The building is owned by the Cerberus fund, which has not agreed to any deal to halt the eviction affecting six families with eight minors.

The struggle bears fruit. The Mossos and the judicial system defend the interests of vulture funds.

Abderraman Latrac, a resident of Block 8, welcomed the attendees in Plaça Catalunya, thanking them for their presence and encouraging them to spend the night in the threatened building. The mobilization included music, featuring the group Leffafingang, and a communal dinner, preceding the resistance expected to continue with the deployment of ARRO units from the Mossos d’Esquadra.
Block 8 holds special significance for the PAHC, as it would be the first of the nine 'liberated' blocks to be evicted, after social rents had been secured in all the others. Despite interest from the Manresa City Council, the Catalan Housing Agency, and a social foundation to purchase the building, the owner, who acquired it after it had been abandoned for a decade, has not yielded.
