The former PP councilor in Sant Joan de Vilatorrada and current party leader in Manresa, Josep Lluís Javaloyes, expressed concern over the local administration's announcement. According to the popular party members, the new model, presented as modern and sustainable, is “far from becoming a comfortable and functional public service”.
“"Everything indicates that it will end up becoming an unnecessary burden for many families in the town."
The popular party argues that what might seem like a brilliant idea on paper will lead to significant practical inconveniences. These include rigid schedules, increased obligations for residents, and special difficulties for families with children, the elderly, or those with incompatible work schedules.
The PP warns that, instead of facilitating waste management, the system could generate “stress, confusion, and a constant feeling of control”. They demand that a public service should simplify citizens' lives, not complicate them, and believe the door-to-door system does not adapt to the social reality of Sant Joan de Vilatorrada.
