Alba Baltiérrez i Alier, a teacher by profession, has been recognized for her career dedicated to quality education. She was a co-founder of the Flama school in 1970, a cooperative center pioneering active pedagogy in Catalan. Subsequently, she collaborated with Càritas and promoted the Puntal project for school support, standing out for her commitment, perseverance, and capacity for teamwork.
The jury highlighted that Baltiérrez's figure connects with the values of the Séquia Award for her commitment to quality education accessible to everyone and her fight against inequalities.
The collective award goes to the Manresa scouting movement, which includes the groups Cardenal Lluch, Antoni Gaudí, Cavall Bernat, and La Salut. The jury valued their long, uninterrupted trajectory in the comprehensive formation of children and young people, considering it a “school of active citizenship”.
This recognition coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Cardenal Lluch group. The values of Manresa scouting recognized are adaptability, resilience, and tenacity, especially in transmitting values such as pacifism, respect for nature, and commitment to the community in a context of social change.
