The complaint, filed by lawyer and MEP Jaume Asens, accuses Klein of alleged administrative malfeasance and misuse of public funds. The Comuns argue that the mayor awarded a contract prohibited by Royal Decree Law 10/2025, which consolidated the total arms embargo on Israel last September.
The complaint is based on a resolution signed by the mayor on November 28, through which the purchase of sixty-three bulletproof vests was awarded.
The acquisition was made from the company Guardian Homeland Security for an amount exceeding 48,840 euros. The party maintains that this contract to acquire “Israeli-origin defense material” violates the current state prohibition.
In the written statement, the Comuns emphasize the seriousness of the events and point out that the awarded company promotes its products as combat-proven, linking them to military operations in occupied Palestinian territory.
