The AP-7 highway experienced two incidents involving trucks on Tuesday afternoon in the province of Tarragona, according to sources from the Servei Català de Trànsit. The first occurred near L'Ametlla de Mar, at kilometer 300 southbound, where a truck's wheel caught fire. This situation forced traffic to be restricted to one lane, causing kilometer-long delays. The driver escaped unharmed, although the vehicle was rendered unusable. The incident was resolved around 8 PM.
Approximately two and a half hours later, about 30 kilometers north, in Mont-roig del Camp, two trucks were involved in a rear-end collision. As a result of the impact, one of the trailers veered off the road after breaking through the guardrail. The truck's cargo, consisting of tomatoes, spilled onto the roadway, covering it with crushed produce.
This second accident necessitated the closure of one of the two northbound lanes towards Barcelona, leading to traffic jams exceeding six kilometers. Both drivers sustained minor injuries. One was taken as a precaution to Hospital Sant Joan de Reus for further medical evaluation.
